We partner with experts for programs at Cub & Fox Playhouse to introduce children up to age 10 to the power of active, guided play in a safe, inclusive indoor environment. Balancing structure and freedom, our space is also designed to encourage kids to expand their current physical, emotional, social and cognitive skills at their own pace.

Each area and program is intentionally designed to support skills development in a way that builds both confidence and resilience - all while keeping play joyful and pressure-free.

Sensing the world

"They are seeing 'magic' for the FIRST TIME!"

Physical

Tummy time, but make it an outing. Ask us for a mat, or let them stretch out on the multi-color carpet and infant soft play. Gravity is baby's first personal trainer — every wobbly head lift counts. High-contrast books are nearby, and the soft seating zone is there when it's all too much.

Emotional

The Playhouse hum — laughter, music, movement — gives a brand-new nervous system gentle practice at "the world is busy and I'm still okay." Settle into the Amphitheater to take in the room and your baby at once, reading every squawk, squint and stretch while the Wall Mural handles the entertainment.

Social

Right now you're the entire social scene, and that's exactly as it should be. Baby is only beginning to clock other faces and voices from across the room — no participation required. The sound of older kids playing becomes familiar background music rather than something startling.

Cognitive

High-contrast mural patterns give the developing visual cortex something genuinely worth staring at. Laughter, music and footsteps start training little ears to tell sounds apart. And our loose play toys and busy board deliver the first big revelation: "I kicked that, and it moved." Cause and effect, courtesy of one flailing foot.

The Explorer

Physical

Nine months, wildly different humans. Early on it's rolling, reaching, tracking and sitting with a little help. By 7–12 months it's army crawling, four-point crawling, sitting solo, and hauling up to stand on anything sturdy. The Crawling Ramp offers a first uphill; the Blueberry Ball Pit offers a soft landing.

Emotional

This is the golden age of back-and-forth. Turn-taking games, silly-face rallies, songs with big motions, a ball rolled between you — this is where emotional development actually lives. Come often enough and the Playhouse becomes a familiar anchor: the place they recognize, relax into, and launch from.

Social

Regulars change everything. Seeing the same faces week-to-week pulls babies toward eye contact, reciprocal babble and imitation. Peek-a-boo lands differently with an audience. And there's no faster route to a first "wee!" or "go!" than watching a familiar face shout it down the Crawler Slide first.

Cognitive

Cause and effect is the whole curriculum right now. Sensory exploration, repeated routines, tiny
problem-solving wins. Sink a ball beneath the Blueberry Ball Pit surface and fish it back out — object permanence, delivered. Watching other babies investigate makes them braver about investigating too. Let the Sensory Wall lead the way.

On their feet

“My kiddo is finding their independence ”

Physical

New walkers travel wide-stanced and gloriously
determined — balance, still loading. This is the age of climbing low steps and carrying objects that are still too big. The Imaginative Play Platform's gentle raised edges make a perfect first step-up, and the River-path Floor Pattern becomes their very first navigation course.

Emotional

"I do it" is the internal soundtrack, and you're the steady bass line underneath. Challenges that are hard-but-doable — the doorway of the Grocery House, one step onto the Ranger House — create the frustration-then-triumph cycle they need. The pride after conquering a single step is genuinely enormous. Cheer from the bottom of the slide.

Social

Parallel play, in its purest form. Two toddlers can build at the LEGO Fire Pit for ten full minutes without acknowledging each other's existence — then wordlessly hand over a block. Or share a design at the Glow Grid. Brief, unceremonious, easy to miss. These are the seeds of friendship.

Cognitive

Symbolic play arrives: a brick becomes dinner, the Crawl Tunnel becomes a cave. Language is expanding — Wall Mural colors get named, "Slide" stops being a word and becomes a demand. Sorting and stacking at the LEGO Fire Pit and Busy Boards quietly teach in/out, on/off, open/close and up/down, with room to fumblesafely.

The wonder years

Physical

Running, falling, immediately running again. Jumping with both feet off the ground — a genuine milestone worth applauding. Stairs get taken one foot per step now. The Amphitheater Stage offers a safe height for big jumps, and the Ranger Station's base-level rope ladder becomes a physical puzzle they simply cannot leave alone.

Emotional

Enormous feelings, very small body. Tantrums live here — but so does the purest joy in human development, and both arrive at full volume. The immersive Grocery and Ranger Stations give dysregulation somewhere useful to go. It's remarkably hard to melt down mid-costume-change into a Park Ranger.

Social

Associative play begins: similar activities, loose coordination, occasional negotiation. "You be the customer, I'll do the register" starts at the Grocery and travels to the Ranger Station. This is where the first real sharing, turn-taking and job-assigning show up — usually with someone appointing themselves manager.

Cognitive

Dramatic play is in full bloom. A produce bin becomes a treasure chest; the Amphitheater Stage becomes Broadway. Memory kicks in — "last time we were here" is now a real sentence. Language is the main tool, and stories get longer, richer and completely nonlinear. Plot holes are developmentally appropriate.

The Imagineer

Physical

Coordination finally catches up to ambition. The Rope Ladder gets climbed with real confidence, the Spiral Slide gets descended with a shriek, and every Ballpit becomes a diving platform. Riding toys and the River Path get used with purpose. Meanwhile fine motor sharpens — scanning groceries, sorting produce, gripping netted structures.

Emotional

Mastery is the fuel now. The first solo trip down the Spiral Slide is a landmark in self-efficacy — and so are the next forty. Empathy is arriving too: spotting a smaller kid stuck on the Rope Ladder and feeling the pull to help is a genuinely big developmental leap, wobbly delivery and all.

Social

Cooperative play gets real, and complicated. Roles are assigned, negotiated, occasionally overthrown. Asking a friend to play, hearing "no thanks," and surviving it is the whole curriculum. The Grocery and Ranger Station together form a full experience; the Wall Ball Game creates friendly competition. Conflict and repair, practiced daily.

Cognitive

The Wall Ball Game turns kids into physicists — watching ricochets, predicting paths, testing every shot twice. A conga line through the Netted Obstacle Course builds multi-step direction-following, and learning happens while they are having fun. The multi-level houses invite actual planning: "up here, then slide, then through the Tunnel."

The Adventurer

"They don't hesitate to do ANYTHING"

Physical

Upper body strength coming online! Climbing and sliding into the Netted Ballpit is now a full athletic challenge. Making their way up the Lighthouse Tower and through the Overhead Tunnel is where they balance on unstable surfaces, coordinate speed and engage risk. Getting there requires route-planning and real physical strategy.

Emotional

Resilience is being built visit-by-visit. The child who couldn't reach the first level in the The Lighthouse and Netted Structure one month speeds through it the next — and they remember. Peer comparison intensifies but is channeled productively through physical achievement across most of the Playhouse.

Social

Familiar friends become a deliberate desire. Group dynamics include playing with peers, developing friendships, and healthy collaboration during play. Whether they enjoy active games, imaginative adventures, or quieter activities, the Playhouse provides opportunities for every child to find meaningful ways to connect and belong.

Cognitive

Deeper thought about play emerges. The Wall Ball Game analysis becomes genuinely scientific: "If I put it in this hole the ball always goes left." Systems thinking in climbing The Tower and Slides: "The fastest route is over the orange section, not the green one." Children build reasoning, problem-solving, and executive functioning skills through playful exploration and discovery.

Physical

Full athletic range. The Playhouse is no longer a challenge to survive — it's a system to optimize. Speed increases, and self-invented rules appear: "I'm doing it backwards this time." What looks like fearlessness is actually pretty sophisticated risk assessment. They know exactly which landings they can handle.

Emotional

Identity starts to solidify, and "big kid who knows this place" is a role they wear proudly. Choosing to coach a nervous three-year-old up the Ranger Station ladder is real emotional maturity — and it happens without prompting. Pride, belonging, even early nostalgia: "I used to play in the Toddler Ball Pit."

Social

Group dynamics get genuinely complex. Friendships are intentional, games get invented and rule-lawyered into existence, and someone always has to decide who's in. Welcoming a newcomer is a real social skill being practiced here. The Playhouse becomes a social stage as much as a play one — and those lessons travel beyond our walls.

Cognitive

Teaching is the highest form of understanding, at any age. Explaining Wall Ball strategy to a younger sibling requires genuine systems-level thinking. Inventing new games inside existing structures becomes standard operating procedure. At this stage the Playhouse isn't equipment — it's a canvas, with an audience of smaller kids taking notes.
